Abstract

This guide is designed for parents, educators, and professionals who wish to understand the importance of children's participation in various aspects of their lives. The guide defines participation and highlights why active involvement of children is essential both for their development and for upholding their fundamental rights. It presents the basic principles of participation and the four levels of participation, distinguishing genuine participation from false involvement. Subsequent chapters discuss how children participate within the family, at school, and in the local community, emphasizing the benefits of authentic participation in each of these contexts.
