Abstract

The session "How to Be a Wise Parent" is an introductory session where the parental educator and parents will get to know each other, experience a warm and safe environment in which they can feel comfortable sharing their experiences and learning about the parenting role. During this session, the parental educator will introduce the Parental Education Program to the parents and address any questions they may have about it. Parents will become familiar with the basic ideas of the program and share their expectations regarding the course. Additionally, group rules will be established during this session. These group rules serve as a method to foster a trusting atmosphere during the course. The parental educator will also encourage parents to participate in session activities designed to promote mutual understanding, identify community resources, and explore new self-care methods. At the end of the session, the parental educator will provide parents with Parental Study I, a tool that helps assess parents' expectations of the program and offers general information about participants, enabling a better anticipation of the group's needs.

This module is part of the materials dedicated to the training of parental educators.
