Abstract

The session "How to Communicate Effectively with Your Child" provides an in-depth exploration of various methods for effective and productive communication, thereby promoting best practices in relationships with others and with children. During this session, parents will explore the theoretical elements of interpersonal communication and discuss the three key components: verbal, paraverbal, and visual. Another essential element of effective communication that they will identify is active listening.

To reflect on their own communication style and apply the new elements introduced in the session, the parental educator will encourage parents to participate in activities designed to improve active listening skills and implement "I" messages. This will be achieved through the application of various methods that lead to motivational and balanced communication between parent and child. At the end of the session, the parental educator will ask parents to practice positive interpersonal communication skills with both their children and the adults in their lives.

This module is part of the materials dedicated to the training of parental educators.
