Abstract

The session "How to be reliable partner for your child" takes an integrated approach to the civic status of children at different stages of childhood within the Romanian state, emphasizing the importance of children’s involvement and participation in decisions and activities that concern them. During this session, parents will learn about children’s rights and reflect on the significance of their child’s active participation in activities and decisions that affect them.

In the first part of the session, the parental educator will present the different categories of children’s rights, such as the right to protection, the right to development, and the right to participation. Parents will explore the basic principles of participation and factors that contribute to building a positive parent-child relationship. In the second part of the session, they will discover various methods for applying theoretical elements and learn to differentiate between genuine and false participation using Roger Hart’s ladder of participation.

This module is part of the materials dedicated to the training of parental educators.
