Abstract

The Module ”Peer relationships and leisure time in adolescence” offers participants an understanding of the importance of engaging with and learning about teenagers' peer influences and leisure activities. Parents are encouraged to understand, become aware of, and, most importantly, accept these differences to improve their relationship with teenagers at home. With greater wisdom, parents may also discover new strategies to address the challenges that inherently arise during this stage of development. In the first part of the module, discussions will centre on: the passions of parents versus those of teenagers, social, economic, educational, and cultural differences reflected in teenagers' leisure activities, the role of parents as primary role models for their children. how parental actions and activities influence the future of their children. The second part of the module will cover topics such as: the importance of money in teenagers' lives, seasonal jobs as exercises in responsibility for teenagers, factors leading teenagers to associate with inappropriate peer groups, parents' involvement in monitoring teenagers' peer circles, understanding teenagers' dress codes and fashion choices as a challenge for parents.

The module includes brainstorming exercises and hands-on activities to enhance understanding and practical application.

This module is part of the materials dedicated to the training of parental educators.
