Abstract

The Session ”Noncognitive Skills” explores skills that can be learned and developed, which are scientifically proven to play a role as significant as cognitive skills in helping young people build a positive life and avoid risky behaviors. In the first part of the session, parents will explore the theoretical aspects of the 7 C's (confidence, competence, connection, character, control, coping, and contribution), as well as non-cognitive skills such as those related to personal dimensions—self-concept, self-efficacy, self-regulation, motivation, creativity—and those related to social or civic areas. These skills are vital in developing resilience, defined as positive adaptation to situations despite the presence of risk. In the second part of the session, participants will apply these theoretical concepts through various practical activities.

This module is part of the materials dedicated to the training of parental educators.
